With Couture week just around the corner, menswear week Paris has finally come to a close. And like Marc Jacobs and Karl Largerfeld who consistently flaunt their arts in the business of showmanship, Olivier Rousteing remains one of the few from this burgeoning generation of designers who reinstate the belief in well curated collections laced with very coherent presentation.
While maintaining a steady design direction with his 80 look collection, Olivier may have referenced Gucci’s Spring 2011 womenswear collection while giving us his brilliant play on aesthetic repetition. Taking a more interesting approach using a retrospective display of three of 90’s most prominent trends; Denim, Bright Colors and the Art of Blocking them, he still did not leave the classic Black and White behind.
Balmain’s take on ready to wear this season is quite a bold statement and what makes it stand out is how he creates a fashionable range that can be put together and taken apart for both the fashion forward man and the man with a more laid back interpretation of fashion.
