“I don’t know what came over me” – Man kills Wife, Children in Benin

“One man’s food is another man’s poison” Indeed, in an environment where parent look for the fruit of the womb, fruits are weeded! This as shocking report reached us that  Edo State police command on Monday paraded a 35-year-old man, Uwaila Idehen, who is said to have opened firearm killing his wife and two sons on the spot.

The tragedy which which took place lately on Sunday the suspect said he did not know what came over him in carrying out the action.

According to TodayNg, this took place at Ovbioge village, in Ovia north-east local government areas of Edo state.

Under a severe interrogation, Idehen who is a tipper driver alleged to have bought the English-made double barrel gun at N200,000, from a deseased police officer, licenced it and sometimes use it for hunting.

He said:

“I don’t know what came over me, and I was not drunk. Due to the nature of my job, my wife always accused me of having affairs with other women, but it is not true.

“At times, when she sees me with my female customers, she will start an argument with me, but I always assure her that there was nothing like that, and that my concern was how to take care of the three kids we had together.

“I always walk away whenever? she geta me provoked, but that Sunday, I don’t know what came over me. Instead of just leaving the house, I picked up my gun and shot through the door and the bullet pierced through the plywood door and hit my wife and the two boys. The girl narrowly escaped,” Idehen said.

However, Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, pronounced the decision the suspect be charged to court for murder and perhaps unlawful possession of firearm.
