Parents of Lane Graves, the 2-year-old-boy killed by an alligator in Disney release statement

It’s been a day since officials announced they had recovered the body of 2-year-old Lane Graves, the young boy who was snatched away by an alligator at Disney World’s Seven Seas Lagoon in Orlando, Fla.

Now, the boy’s parents, Melissa and Matt Graves, have released the following statement mourning the death of their son Lane Graves after an alligator snatched him by a lagoon at a Disney World hotel.

“Words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. We are devastated and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time. To all of the local authorities and staff who worked tirelessly these past 24 hours, we express our deepest gratitude,” the family said in a statement.

The two-year-old boy died from drowning and traumatic injuries, an autopsy report concluded. He was dragged into the lagoon by the alligator and his body was found fully intact the next day.
