Ogboru has committed suicide by joining APC – PDP
The Delta State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the purported defection of some politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as inconsequential and of no effect to the fortunes of the PDP in the state.
Chief Great Ogboru, gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, and Hon. Victor Ochei, Delta North Senatorial candidate of the Accord Party, and others from PDP recently defected to APC in the state.
Mr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Delta State Publicity Secretary, PDP, commented on the implications of the defection at the weekend, stating that the politicians joining the APC have not only thrown themselves into political wilderness.
Osuoza, who noted that politicians were at liberty to seek political platforms to actualize their political ambitions, added that many politicians who have defected to other platforms outside the PDP only end up committing political suicide.
He noted that Ogboru and other so-called high-profile defectors have been roundly defeated in past elections in the state, and they have become spent forces. He said the PDP still has the wherewithal to defeat them again and again in future elections.
Osuoza charged the PDP family to remain resolute and focused in promoting the laudable ideals of the party, especially at the grassroots and to explore new vistas of making the party more attractive, to encourage new membership; he guaranteed that every registered member would be accorded recognition, as they were all equal stakeholders in the scheme of party operations.
