As part of efforts being put in place to sensitize the good people of Kosofe local government on electioneering process ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly election, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon (Okla) of All Progressive Congress (APC) organized door-to-door campaign tagged “Gbe Body E” on the 2nd of March, 2019.
The exercise was said to last for 5 good hours rallying from convergence to popular Oworoshoki. There was never a dull moment as live musical bands were on ground echoing intriguing sounds and songs. Present at the rally were: Party Chairman, Alhaji Kehinde Bello, Hon.Tunde Soneye, Hon.Lanre Carew, Hon.Musiliu Aigoro, Hon. Jumoke Dairo, Councillors, Executive members and several stalwarts and members were present at the event.
Former Deputy (E.S), Kosofe Local Government, Hon Mrs Jumoke Dairo, who was present during the rally defined the candidate in her candid choice of words and told press reasons kosofe people must vote for Okla come March 19th, Lagos State House of Assembly election:
“We have to support him, number one, Hon. Okanlawon Saani is a very good man. He is real politician, he has been in the system for long and we have been together for long. At the same time, he is the man of the people. You know he is a youth, when you look at him he is a very young person, so youth love him so much and the women too. This is because he likes taking people along with him.
“When you look at Lagos State as a whole, you will see that most of our candidates are youths. When you see the former election we have just done, when you look at Hon. Bayo Osinowo, our senator now, you will notice that he is also a youth and he carries youth along. My message for Kosofe people, they should kindly come out and vote for our House of Assembly candidate as well as our incoming governor too.”
The Council boss, Hon. Afolabi Sofola who in his good governance just bought a brand new Ford SUV car for Oba of Ojota talked on the degree of All Progressive Congress (APC) in delivering dividends of democracy to the people:
“If you fail to plan, then you are surely planning to fail” In APC, we plan so that we can succeed. Today’s walk has a purpose, we are sensitizing our people, we are moving around and you can see the large number of people that came around. We want to tell the people that we are here to work to deliver the dividends of democracy and that our party APC is properly positioned”
The Vice Chairman Ikosi-Isheri LCDA also being the Chairman of all Vice Chairmen in Lagos State, Hon. Princess Abolanle, said the role of women are very powerful in realm of affairs and governance as a whole. She said:
“When you see women beside any man during this type of something you should know the man is a responsible man. During this walk for Okla “Gbe Body E” it has really shown the kind of person he is, someone who we really wanted in position. A man who went to represent us even at the State as the S.A on Food and Security that never betrayed the house. We women we have passion for him and we know he will represent us well”
“It is our idea to do more of advocacy and outreach; this is one of our outreach programmes we have packaged towards sensitizing the people so that people can know us. They can know our capability and to do more of publicity to the world. Whatever is our mandate, whatever is our mission statement, whatever is the programme of the party we can sell it to the people out there”
In his address to newsmen, Okla emphasized on credible conduct thereby urging the people to be law-abiding at the polls saying such will guarantee free and fair election:
A strong member- Okla Team, Hon. Olanrewaju Oladunjoye who believes in the party called on the youth to shun every act that could invite violence during the election:
“As you are aware, our party is always advocating violent-free elections, we do not practice politics with bitterness. We advocate for youth 100% and from day one, one of the doctrines of our leader is since you are very confident of winning the election why fight? When we fight, we will probably throw away our vote so we preach peace all the time”
Councillor representing Mosafejo Olubori , Ward A (Oworoshoki) Hon. Adewale Sunday, in his view appreciated efforts of the All Progressive Congress in piloting affairs of Lagosians at large:
“My message for the Wards in general, all the people in the community, they should come out en Masse to come and cast their votes for the rulling party that is APC that I trust, that can do it and have been doing it well for us. Changing environment in Lagos State to become just like London. I think this is a good work and this work has to continue.
Hon. Adewale being a leader from the biggest Ward in the local government vowed for peaceful conduct therefore urging voters to come cast their votes without fear:
“This time around, we have sensitized so many inhabitants in the community and they know the security men are ready on ground. So there is no fear for people come out to cast their vote”
Coming out to show big time support, former aspirant , Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon. Azeez Olayinka Rabiu aka Whytee, called for continuity in Kosofe land:
“There is no doubt about it, we are going to win, come next Saturday. This is a great turnout for me, it is more than what I expected. Before now, I was assured we are going to win the election. All we need in Kosofe Constituency 1 is continuity”
Being known in the realm as journalist as well politician, Awonaike Adeleke said: “As you can see, it is the general electioneering mode. It shows the numerical strength of our party. We can be able to count vividly now and will be able to see and deduce that they are more than Two Thousands working for this really tagged “Gbe Body E” by Hon. Ganiu Okanlawon. Having seen people trooping out and clapping for him, giving him support. By the grace of God this kind gesture they have shown to him today, I am very sure they will still replicate it on election day”
Chris Onyekachi Simon as an Igbo leader demystified the uniqueness of the Yoruba people being hospitable in housing other tribes in the land:
“This election is going to be free and fair and the reason I am in the midst of our people is to let my people know this is the right direction where to go. So come Match 19, we are going to vote for all APC candidates. Lagos State has been a very peaceful state and Yoruba community have been a very loving people. That is why you see we leave our state and come to Lagos and they will accommodate us. We do our business, we grow, we make money and go back to help our people in our States. So Yoruba people are people to be with, I have millions of them as friends”
