JAMB approves 160 as cut-off mark for admission

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has approved 160 as the cut-off mark for candidates seeking admission into universities.

The examination board arrived at the decision after a 19th policy meeting on admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria at Bola Babalakin auditorium, Gbongan, Osun state.

The meeting also saw the approval of 140 as cut-off mark bfir admission into private universities while 120 was approved for private polytechnics and colleges.

The meeting had in attendance, Vice Chancellors, Rectors of Polytechnics and provost of colleges of education.

Meanwhile, JAMB also the results of 15,490 candidates who wrote the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

This was made known by JAMB Head of Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin. The results were released after clearing the candidates of various examination infractions.

According to the statement, “the release followed the expert review of the cases of the category of candidates who were requested to upload certain credentials for scrutiny.”

“And others were in the category of those whose upload of evidence necessitated further interrogation, those whose culpability have been firmly established thereby necessitating the cancellation of their results.

“A total of 321 results were therefore conclusively cancelled and the candidates duly notified,” he said.
