Atiku Orders Buhari to Close the Borders to Avoid Further Spread of Corona Virus

Nigeria’s ex vice president and the presidential candidate for Peoples Democratic Party in the recently concluded Presidential elections, Atiku believes closing our borders temporarily will be the best step to control the spread of Corona Virus in Nigeria.

In a statement via his twitter handle, Atiku said,

“Two weeks ago, when Nigeria recorded its index case of the Ccorona virus, I had cause to urge the Federal Government to restrict flights from nations with a high prevalence of the Coronavirus plague. This is in line with global best practices.”

Atiku believes closing or restricting flights to and from countries with high rate of Corona Virus affected persons will be a step in the right direction.

“This is a patriotic call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to take every reasonable step to protect the citizens of Nigeria, by temporarily suspending flights to and from such countries, until we build up our ability to contain the coronavirus. Our borders should, however, be open to Nigerian citizens, regardless of their status.” He added.
