Presidency, Governors and Deputy Governors to loose immunity (Details Below)

A bill to see the president, vice president, Governors and Deputy Governors to loose immunity has just passed the second billing.

The bill seeks to alter the provision in the 1999 constitution which provides immunity to sitting presidents, vice presidents, Governors and deputy Governors on criminal matters.

The bill sponsored by the Deputy senate president Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege is termed “A Bill for an Act to alter the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to qualify criminal liability for certain public officers under Section 308”.

If this bill sees the light of the day and its being signed into law by President Mohammad Buhari, then sitting presidents, vice presidents, Governors and Deputy Governors could be probed and jailed even on seat.
