River state Governor Nyesom Wike, today imposed a 12 hour dusk to dawn curfew in the parts of the state. The curfew is to hold from 6pm to 6am every day as long as the Coronavirus Pandemic continues.
The Governor announced on Monday that the curfew followed violations of the market closure order by the state government.
He said the governments order is part of preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19 in the state. According to the governor, all beer parlours and drinking joints are to be closed down.
Governor Wike, however gave waivers to different categories of persons such as”Medical and pharmaceutical personnel, food & beverages staff, oil and gas staff, media workers and newspaper distributors. He added that all these exempted must identify themselves with valid ID Cards.
