As the coronavirus pandemic spreads and the total number of cases nationally surpasses 150 with 2 deaths, Osun State has become the third-worst place in the country for the disease.
As at 12:30 pm 1st April, the breakdown from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows that there are 151 confirmed cases.
Of the 151, Lagos is the most hit with 82 cases, FCT has 28, Osun 14, Oyo 8, Ogun 4, Edo 4, Kaduna 3, Enugu 2, Bauchi 2, Ekiti 2, Rivers 1 and Benue 1.
With the index case reported on March 25th, there has been a sharp increase in the number of cases with twelve reported in the last twenty four hours.
However, it is rumoured that thirteen of the total cases Osun has were Ivory Coast returnees who have been isolated by the State Government.
The Osun State Government on Saturday said it had received and kept in isolation some indigenes of the state that recently returned from the Ivory Coast.
The travellers, said to be about 120, arrived in the state on Friday and were moved to a government facility in Ejigbo where they would be observed for 14 days, as part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
With the latest discovery, many residents that our correspondent spoke with are eulogizing the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for being proactive in handling the returnees.
