Lockdown: Protest In Osun As Police Dispersed Protesters Fighting Over Food

Yemisi Opalola, the Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command has informed newsmen that some people fighting over food were dispersed by the police in Ile Ife and some protesters arrested.

According to report gathered, some residents of Ile Ife on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest over failure by a group that had earlier announced its intention of sharing food items to the people. The General Manger of Crown FM, Ile Ife where the group made the announcement of the food distribution said those handling the food told residents to assemble in a particular area for the distribution but were overwhelmed by the numbers of turn-up as what they had could barely go round.

Mr Israel Ogunlade the manger of Crown FM, said the people where shouting when the food could not go round and that caused disorderliness before the police arrived. The protesters marched through Lagere, Iremo and Sabo areas.
