Minister Seek For Data And Call Reduction

Dr. Ibrahim Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy has urged telecoms companies to reduce the cost of calls and data to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Just few days ago, Vodafone a British telecom firm offered a 30-day free unlimited data to half of its pay monthly customers as a measure of support during this current pandemic.

Dr. Ibrahim on his official social media handle (Twitter) urged telecoms companies in Nigeria to reduce its tariff both on calls and data for citizens of the country at this critical time.

According to Gbenga Adebayo, who is acting under the aegis of Association of Licensed Telecoms Companies of Nigeria (ALTON) said the times are hard and they have been doing a lot of support during this trying period. In a not shell, the ALTON are not interested in making a showmanship of the gesture at this trying time.

Most Nigerians would be disappointed because data seems to be what consumes money nowadays and this period of sit at home, it would have been a way of eradicating boredom and getting useful information on the current situation and various rules in other to curtail the current COVID-19 pandemic.
