Palm Sunday – why do we celebrate it?

Palm Sunday is like a glimpse of Easter. It’s a little bit joyful after being sombre during Lent – Laura Gale .

Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter. Happy Palm Sunday to those who celebrate it.

Palm Sunday is celebrated to honour the beginning of the Holy week,the last week of Lent (fasting period) and the last days of Jesus Christ on Earth. It’s a day of remembrance and preparation of one’s heart for the agony of His Passion and the joy of His Resurrection.

When Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem,palm branches were spread on the floor for him. The palm branches distributed is a sign of victory and joy. Palm Sunday is also called Branch Sunday,Passion Sunday,.Blossom Sunday or Willow Sunday.

Due to the pandemic,Christian families are forced to observe the Palm Sunday at home. Some families celebrated palm Sunday by reading the Gospel books,fasting and praying. People that could get palm branches blessed the branches and shared them to their neighbours.
