GOtv Set To Increase VAT On All Subscriptions Effect From June

Value added tax or VAT is an indirect tax, which is imposed on goods and services at each stage of production, starting from raw materials to final product. On the other hand, VAT is like a fee which we pay to government for functioning in its territory or tax paid to the government by the seller rather than the person who ultimately bears the economic burden of the tax.

GOTV which is a subsection of DSTV have informed its customers that an increase of 7.5% increase in Value added tax will be added to their new subscription effect from June 1, 2020.

“Dear GOgetter, please be informed that effective 1 June 2020, we will implement 7.5% VAT on all GOtv services.”

This means there will be changes in all subscription charges as from the stated date. The reason for the increase in VAT is still unknown to customers as at this point.
