Loss of taste and smell have now been added to a list of symptoms of covid-19 by British health officials. The United Kingdoms chief medical officers revealed in a statement that all individuals should self-isolate if they develop a new continuous cough or fever or anosmia.
Anosmia is the loss or a change in your normal sense of smell. It can also affect your sense of taste as the two are closely linked.
The symptoms will now feature with fever and cough as main indicators of the virus.
Therefore anyone noticing a distinct change in their sense of taste or smell should now self-isolate for seven days to reduce the spread of infection.
