Ondo State Governor gives Situation Report on Covid 19

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Akededolu Gives Situation Report on Coronavirus that,

“Covid19 Today I gave my weekly briefing to the people on our #waragainstcovid19. Key excerpts are detailed in this thread;

We have confirmed four new cases in the last week bringing out total to 20. of all the 20 cases so far confirmed in Ondo state, 13 have been successfully treated and discharged, one dead and six in bed, undergoing treatment.

I wish to thank our people for their substantial compliance with our regulations. We know it has not been easy considering the disruption of our ways of lives and economic livelihood imposed by the deadly pandemic.

Our 20th case was a woman living in Akure. Her records show she neither traveled in or out of the state recently. She was fully resident in her community. She is the first known community transmission case. Contact tracing has already been activated to contain the spread.

I wish to admonish all residents of Ondo state to remain vigilant and dedicate themselves to community care by reporting all suspicion to our health workers and our rapid response team available on the specially designated toll-free numbers.

Government will be meeting with religious leaders and other stakeholders within the state to explore ways of returning religious worship to our society. We will accelerate such consultations and review and without doubt the people will hear from me very soon.

All measures still in place including dusk to dawn curfew, border & entry points closure, physical and social distancing, restrictions on business and market activities, compulsory use of face masks, guided burial and interment protocols as well as all personal hygiene practices.

A special thank you to our health workers at our isolation centers and others doing double time to make sure this disease doesn’t escalate and we win the battle”.
