Man Rescued After A Failed Suicide Attempt In Ogun River

Fatai Oyedele, a 36-year-old father of five was arrested after a failed suicide attempt in the Akin-Olugbade area of Abeokuta.

Fatai who was later confirmed to be a cloth seller was rescued by men of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Crops (TRACE). According to some eyewitness, Fatai arrived at the Ogun River at the Akin-Olugbade at around 1pm.

Fatai who was caught with a bottle of insecticide during the failed suicide attempt, was taken to the Adigbe Police Station.

The Public Relations Officer of the TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen as he described Fatai as a psychiatric patient who needs help due to his being violent when brought to the station.

“The man is suffering from psychiatric problems. He was violent at the Adigbe Police Station. we have released him to his family members, who came for him. They have taken him to the psychiatric hospital for treatment.” Babatunde said.

It’s still unknown why Fatai attempted to take his own life.
