Nigeria Now Has A Polio Free Status – WHO.

The World Health Organisation, Africa region revealed on Thursday, June 18,2020, that Nigeria is now free from the Wild Polio Virus.

The news comes after Nigeria’s complete documentation for #WildPoliovirus free status was accepted by the Africa Regional Certification Commission for polio eradication (ARCC). It is a historic day for Nigeria, Africa and the Global Polio Programme! – WHO stated.

This news implies that there have been no new cases of Polio in the country. As the Nigerian Government in partnership with the World Health Organisation has been able to curtail the disease that has affected several people in Northern Nigeria.

It is reported that over $8.1 million dollars has been spent on the eradication of the endemic in the country in the last couple of years.
