Barcelona Draw Atletico 2-2, As Messi Scores 700th Career Goal.

Barcelona played a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday as the team as the team stay second on the La Liga table, one point behind leaders Real Madrid.

However, Lionel Messi scored the 700th goal of his career by converting a penalty against Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Barca’s captain fooled Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak with a chip down the middle at Camp Nou, where he hit another remarkable milestone for club and country.

The Argentina national team captain converted after 50 minutes to put his team 2-1 ahead against Diego Simeone’s side. 

Atletico’s two goals were through penalties scored by Saul Niguez while Barca first scored through a Diego Costa own goal while Messi scored in the second half.

Messi’s 700 goals include 630 for Barcelona and 70 for Argentina and he joins Ronaldo (who has 725 career goals) amongst a select few of football legends to have scored over 700 goals in their careers.
