“I’m not answerable to ASUU, we are having our virtual matriculation”- Vice Chancellor Kayode of FUOYE

Nigeria, like every other African and European country face a high mountain in the educational sector due to the current pandemic, as educational activities were put on hold to curb any spread of the current pandemic.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has since kicked against the re-opening of school around the country, as they feel our schools are not fully equipped to combat the virus, if there is a major outbreak. Despite protest from ASUU, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has said, ‘the school will hold its virtual matriculation scheduled for August 28’.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode, he said, he is not answerable to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and he has the right to run the university. This is coming after the Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Prof. Ade Adejumo, had faulted the virtual matriculation of Osun State University, describing it as ‘scam’- Punch.

“We are having virtual matriculation on August 28 for 2019/2020 academic session. Only the principal officers, Dean of Students Affairs and the Vice Chancellor will be there. We will put all the students on alert in order to avoid the crowd crush.” Prof. Kayode said.

It’s still yet unknown, how they plan a successful matriculation. We wait to see how it goes on August 28. Stay connected for more trending new.
