It was a fantastic evening for Manchester City as they put four goals past current premier league champions Liverpool without a reply.

Manchester City played host to the Premier League champions at the Etihad and staged a guard of honour before kick off, applauding their opponents onto the pitch to acknowledge that yes indeed, they are the league champions.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden put City comfortably ahead with a 3 goal lead just before halftime.

Manchester City then went 4 goals ahead in the 66th minute, with Oxlade Chamberlain diverting Sterling’s shot into the net.

Mahrez could have made it 5 for the host but his goal was disallowed by referee Anthony Taylor for a handball by Phil Foden in the build-up to the goal
