The war against insurgence in the North-East is far from over, but it was reported that no fewer than 356 soldiers and other theaters of operation have applied for voluntary retirement.

The news which was first reported by the Punch, cited that the soldiers applied to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, citing the loss of interest as their main reason for disengagements. This will come as a shock to Nigerians as the war against insurgence is far from over.

Master Warrant Officers, Warrant Officers, Staff Sergeants, Sergeants, Lance Corporals, Corporals and Privates, made up the 356 soldiers who applied for voluntary retirement. Some cited loss of interest, while some cited to take a traditional title. When traditional title is more important to you, then we should really ask, what is really going on in the North –East. Are there hidden truth Nigerians are unaware of?

“The soldiers are to proceed on terminal leave December 3, 2020, while their disengagement date takes effect from January 3, 2021. All forms of military-controlled items, arms, ammunition, and items of combat will be recovered from the soldiers prior to their disengagement date.” Army Chief, Buratai.
