Watch Video As Boko Haram Attacks Borno Governor’s Convoy.

Borno state governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday evening escaped an ambush by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram militants in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, a security source said Thursday.

Governor Zulum reportedly left Maiduguri, the state capital on Monday to an undisclosed destination in the state as has become his tradition to personally distribute palliatives to internally displaced persons in liberated local governments.

The attack from the suspected Boko Haram militants occured near Baga town, a fishing town on the border of Lake Chad, approximately 196km from Maiduguri, the state capital of Borno.

Fortunately, the governor was unhurt as soldiers and police officers guarding him repelled the assault.

However, Nigerian police and military are yet to confirm the gunfire in the area.
