IPOB, DSS and Police Clash In Enugu State, Leaving Conflicting Casualty Figures From All Parties

When the Department of State Service (DSS) and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) clash, there is always contradicting part of the story, as no fewer than 10 persons were killed in Emene, in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, according to gathered information.

IPOB VIEW:

According to reports, it was gathered that trouble started at the early hours of Sunday morning, when some DSS operatives and policemen stormed the praying center of some IPOB members and started to arrest them, when they resisted the arrest, it led to shooting which claimed the life of a member and left some injured. The scene, made the IPOB members to attack the DSS and policemen and killed two policemen and two DSS operatives according to eyewitness.

According to the Media and Public Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, stated, that the group would avenge the death of its member (21 members and 47 arrested) as they were only observing their Jewish prayers before they were attacked. Emma claimed the IPOB members were unarmed.

POLICE VIEW:

According to the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurraham, he said it was a DSS operation and the police where informed when it became bloody. “When my men arrived, they came under heavy fire from the miscreants. So they have to take cover. The problem was too much as more reinforcement was made. It was an operation to rescue DSS operative”.

DSS VIEW:

According to Dr. Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, disclosed that, there patrol team were attacked by the IPOB, leaving two of its member dead.

“The service lost two personnel in what was clearly an unprovoked violent attack launched by IPOB on the team.” Afunanya stated.
