Missing AFCON Trophy: Ex- Egyptian Captain, debunks involvement rumors

Ahmed Hassan, the former captain of the Egyptian team that lead them to win their 2006, 2008 and 2010 African Cup of Nation (AFCON) has spoken and dismissed any claim that he is in possession of the missing AFCON trophy.

Earlier, it was reported that AFCON trophy was lost after it was confirmed by the Egyptian Football Federation, with Ahmed Hassan, the former captain of the Pharaohs thought to be in possession of the trophy.

Hassan took to his official social medial page to express his disappointment and dismissed his being associated to the missing trophy.

“I’m surprised that I’m being questioned about the cup after nine years, despite the presence of two FA boards, and five-year committee for a year and two months.” Hassan said.

Hassan also made fun of the statement as he said if they want another trophy, they (players) can go back to play and win a fifth cup. Egypt are the most successful country when it comes to AFCON, as they have won the trophy seven times since 1957, making them African best when it comes to football.
