NANS Urge FG, ASUU To Negotiate As Schools Reopen.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has come out to support the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in its negotiations with Federal Government regarding the ongoing strike.

The recent development comes as tertiary institutions across the country resume.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) president, Danielson Akpan stated ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike because of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) issue, and failure of the government to fulfil other agreements reached with ASUU.

He however urged the federal government to ensure that the needs and demands of the Academic staff union is met, so as to hasten the return of students in federal institutions across the country, as schools reopen.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) had shut down all schools for more than five months over the coronavirus pandemic that ravaged the country.

But before that, Students in Federal Universities across the country have been at home due to the industrial action imposed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
