Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke over the weekend, spoke to the youths of Calabar as he assured them that their actions have been heard as all forms of government are listening to their cries and demand for good governance and a better Nigeria.
Duke who was the governor of Cross River State from May 1999 to May 2007 took to his official social media handle to share his experience with the youths. Duke a former Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019, was the then governor of Cross River State who initiated the Calabar Carnival which started in 2004 and is popularly referred to as “Africa’s biggest street party.”
“Today I went to speak to constituents of Calabar municipality at MCC Rd, Essien Town and the City Gate. It is of great importance that our people know that they matter, every grievance matters. We ought to do what is right to them. Their actions have spoken louder than their words and we are listening.” Duke wrote.
Duke also went further to prayer for the families of victims who have been hurt during the #EndSARS peaceful protest across the country as he tagged it, “senseless and unwarranted”.
