FG Finally Releases Statement In Support Of Dr. Ngozi Okonju-Iweala DG Saga With The US (Photo)

The Federal Government of Nigeria has finally released a press statement concerning the possible appointment of Dr. Ngozi Okonju-Iweala’s as the Director General (DG) of World Trade Organization (WTO) and an alleged oppose motion from the United States of America.

In a memo which was signed by Ferdinand Nwonye, the spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria in Abuja, stated that Dr. Ngozi Okonju-Iweala has secured cross-regional backing with only the United States opposing the consensus and to that, the Ministry wishes to Inform her and the general public that Nigeria will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that her aspiration is finally achieved with or without the backing of the United States of America.

Dr. Ngozi Okonju-Iweala who is an economist and international development expert, has had the opportunity to became Minister in both President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure and that of President Goodluck Jonathan’s. She will become the first woman and African to hold such a prestigious position as the Head of World Trade Organization if everything goes as plan.

Electing a member as the Head of WTO, is done by its members through a consensus, so be rest assured we won’t be needing our PVC in support of our very own Dr. Ngozi Okonju-Iweala.
