Just In: FG Says There Will Be No Reopening Of NYSC Camps Without Covid-19 Tests.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that their will be no reopening of NYSC Camps across the country if there are no systems put in place to test Corp members for Covid-19.

The Federal Government announced that Prospective and returning NYSC members must undergo compulsory COVID-19 tests. This was announced by the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) Sani Aliyu, on Thursday, October 15.

Mr. Aliyu stated that the government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are already setting up protocols in place before the reopening of camps across the country.

He stated in part;

“We have developed guidelines with the NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) and the NYSC in the preparation for the reopening of the orientation camps on the 10th of November, 2020.

“The PTF has also arranged additional safeguards to include the testing of all corpers and staff in the camps for COVID-19 tests prior to commencement of the orientation programmes.”

Earlier today the minister of youth and sports development, Sunday Dare announced that NYSC camps would be reopened on Tuesday, November 10.
