NBC Fine Arise TV, AIT & Channels For Using Unverified Social Media Videos.

The National Broadcasting Commission NBC, has fined the Arise TV, AIT and Channels Television broadcasting stations for using unverified social media videos in it’s reporting, thereby flouting NBC’s code of conduct.

The acting director-general of the NBC, Armstrong Idachaba, on Monday, October 26, disclosed that the media houses will be fined not less than N2 million by the commission.

Mr. Armstrong stated that this is the first warning, adding that the second violation will be met with a heavier punishment.

He further revealed that AIT will be fined separately for using an unverifiable news item on the fire tragedy that occurred at the National Christian Centre.

He then warned broadcasting stations against using their platforms to promote violence-inciting political jingles.
