Facebook is one of the social media application that consumes your data, although it’s consumption rate is not as much as some other social media applications. But if you scroll through the video section or auto-play videos your data gets consumed quickly. The remedy is to stop auto-playing videos or avoid visiting the video section because you could get glued to it, and this gets your data used up rapidly.

Snapchat is another mobile application that eats up data quickly. Snapchat preload Stories and Snaps so that they immediately appear when you check your feed. And this alone consumes a lot of data.

Twitter doesn’t consume a lot of data if you only scroll through your news feed without watching any video. However, it’s data consumption rate is high if you spend a longer period of time using it or if you put videos on auto-play.

Back in the days (just before the inclusion of the Whatsapp Status feature) Whatsapp used to be the social media application with the least data consumption rate, you could consume just around 50mb of data using whatsapp for a whole day. But with the inclusion of the Status feature, you can spend up to 1 Gigabyte of data a day, especially if you have contacts who are inconsiderate and post videos of large size.
