Governor Wike Fumes At Church Members For Not Wearing Their Facemask, As He Plans To Take Action

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has warned Churches across the state to adhere to NCDC rules buy wearing their face mask in church or stand the risk of restricted numbers of people allowed to worship in a particular church service.

In a special thanksgiving service organized in honor of the wife of Chief Azubuike Nmerukin, former Mayor of Rivers state, the Governor observed during the service that more than 80 per cent of worshippers were not with their face mask and other with, didn’t even wear it. He warned that if it continues, the State Government will be force to go back to the old rules, which allows less people to worship at the same time.

Governor Wike also called on the Bishop of Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Right Reverend Wisdom Ihunwo, to encourage members to always obey the set down rules and wear their face mask at all time to curb any further spread of the virus in the state.

“85 per cent of those who are here are not wearing their face mask. Nobody wants to obey simple instruction and it’s the problem we are facing at the moment. My lord Bishop, encourage our people to wear their face mask. It is very important. If this continues then I will go back and review the restriction to say it cannot be more than a particular number,” Wike said.
