Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has finally redeemed the pledge he made to the families of the ten security personnel killed by alleged members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Last week, Governor Wike had promised to give each member of the bereaved families N20 million each during his visit to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan (a total of 200million). The main reason for the money, is to alleviate the plight of the widows and their children. According to reports, 4 policemen and 6 armies were killed during the attack.
The money was presented in cheques at the State Police Command and 6 Division, Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt. As a governor who matches to his words, this is will come in time to help the widows who have lost the bread winners, father and love one of their family.
