Ogun Police Warns Residents Against Use Of Fireworks As Christmas Approaches.

The Ogun State Police Command has warned residents of the state against illegal gatherings and the use of fireworks, as the 2020 Christmas and new year celebrations approaches.

A statement by the state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Wednesday said elaborate tactical and covert policemen have been strategically deployed across to nip crimes in the state with a clear mandate of ensuring crime-free Christmas and New year celebration.

Oyeyemi reminded residents of the state that there is a law banning the use of fireworks in the state.

While stressing that the law is still in force, the police spokesperson said: “anybody caught selling or throwing any type of fireworks will be made to feel the weight of the law.”

Also the Ogun police said they have put in place a robust security arrangement to ensure hitch-free celebrations, asking the people of Ogun to report any suspicious gathering to the police.
