The internal crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has worsen, as the deputy national chairman (south) of the party, Yemi Akinwonmi announced himself the acting national chairman of the party.
Akinwonmi’s announcement comes after a high court in Rivers State on Monday restrained elected national chairman, Uche Secondus from acting as the party’s leader.
Citing section 35 (b) of the PDP constitution, Akinwonmi assumed office on Tuesday and indefinitely postponed the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) today.
The new development has not been officially confirmed by the party, but it’s a further escalation of a crisis that appeared to have been resolved just two weeks ago.
