Over the years several Nigerian artistes have had great successes both in the local and international music stage.

Some of these artistes have made their way to the global music scene either by releasing a one-hit track that received wide appraisal by an international audience, hence giving premium recognition to the artistes brand.

Another way is by collaborating with international artistes to produce a spectacular hit track that will make waves on the global music space. This could be a song featuring the foreign artist or vice versa.

D’Banj ft Snoop Dogg – Mr Endowed Remix.

In 2012 former Mo’Hits star D’Banj teamed up with U.S rapper Snoop Dogg and they had a huge remake of his song Mr. Endowed. This remix was one of the biggest songs at the time.

King Sunny Ade ft Stevie Wonder – Ase.

After been nominated for the 1984 Grammy awards (the first Nigerian to be nominated) in the “ethnic/traditional folk recording” category, King Sunny Ade featured Stevie Wonder on Ase a track off his 1984 album, Aura.

Stevie Wonder’s part was recorded at the Wonderland Studios in California. While Sunny often played Ase during his world tour in Europe, North America, Japan and Australia. This collaboration happens to be the biggest by a Nigerian featuring a foreign artist.

Wizkid ft Drake & Skepta – Ojuelegba Remix.

After releasing the original track in his album Ayo in 2014, Nigerian singer, Wizkid dropped a remix to Ojuelegba featuring Drake and British- Nigerian rapper Skepta. The collaboration is still one of the biggest by a Nigerian featuring a foreign artist.

P-Square ft. T.I – Ejeajo.

P-Square have collaborated with foreign artistes many times and so they have multiple tracks on this list. They featured American rapper T.I. on this song which was heavily influenced by Prince’s 1979 hit I Wanna Be Your Lover.

P-Square Ft Rick Ross – Beautiful Onyinye

Beautiful Onyinye ft Rick Ross was another amazing collaboration between the defunct P-Square group featuring an A-list international artiste. This song was a hit at the time it was released.

The Pulse ft Busta Rhymes – Pray Sotey Remix.

The Pulse were the winners of the 2009 edition of the “STAR QUEST” competition and they were rewarded with a recording contract with Kennis Music. Nigerian Breweries, makers of Star Lager Beer, also engineered a collaboration between The Pulse and American rapper, Busta Rhymes. This song was a hit that year.

Davido ft Meek Mill – Fans Mi.

Davido made headlines after he featured American rapper on his hit single Fans Mi in 2015. This happens to be one of Davido’s biggest features so far and one for the Nigeria music industry also.

P-Square ft Akon & May D – Chop My Money.

“Akon, P-Square, Mr. May D, convict music” was a common line in the mouths of everyone when this song was released in 2012. ‘Chop My Money‘ was everyone’s favourite at the time even as it became popular worldwide. This song featuring Akon and May D is still one of P-Square’s biggest song of all time.

Wizkid ft Justin Bieber & Tems – Essence Remix.

Wizkid’s ‘Essence‘ feat Canadian singer Justin Bieber and Nigerian Singer Tems has become the song of the 2021 summer. The song which was originally included on his ‘Made in Lagos’ album released in 2020, was certified gold in the United States by the RIAA. This collaboration is currently the biggest by a Nigerian featuring a foreign artist.

P-Square ft Dave Scott – Bring It On.

In 2014, P-Square teamed up with Atlanta singer, David Scott to release the inspirational single ‘Bring It On’. With 17M YouTube views this song rounds up our list of the 10 Biggest Collaborations By Nigerians Featuring International Artistes.
