Nigerian Music Producer, Beats By Jayy Passes On After Brief Illness.

Award winning Nigerian music producer Victor Chujor-Idowu, well known as Beats By Jayy has passed away on Saturday, November 20th after a brief illness following complications from Covid-19.

The music producer died at the age of 28.

Details about his death was confirmed by his family and colleague AQ.

In an Instagram post shared on Sunday, his family wrote;

“Victor Chujor-Idowu AKA Beats By Jayy AKA Big Daddy Jayy, will be in our hearts forever. It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of multitalented producer/singer and songwriter Victor Chujor-Idowu aka Beats by Jayy…

He passed away at the age of 28 following complications from Covid-19. He is survived by his mother and siblings. We would appreciate that you grant us the utmost privacy as we grieve this tragic loss.”

Confirming the information his colleague AQ wrote;

“Rest in Peace Beats by Jayy, You’ve left me alone in this cold world, but I know you’re in a better place…. Thank you for everything you gave me… No one ever gave me more…

The centerpiece is gone….”

Over the past few years, Jayy has risen from just being an underground Hip-Hop producer, to being one of Nigeria’s most celebrated producers.

Jayy was known for being an associate of AQ, MI Abaga, Blaqbonez and Loose Kaynon. He also produced for the likes of iLLBliss, Teeto Ceemos and more.

At the time of his death, he was working on his fourth body of work as well as an EP with Jay Teazer.

Before the pandemic in 2020 he produced ‘JUDAH EP’ for M.I Abaga, the Headies-winning ‘God’s Engineering’ for AQ and during the pandemic he also produced ‘The Live Report’ for M.I Abaga and AQ.

He is also acclaimed to be the genius behind the sound of a coin dropping on the floor in MI Abaga’s recent songs.
