AFCON: “We Had To Cut-Off Salah, To Win” – Coach Eguavoen.

Following the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s win over Egypt on Tuesday the team head coach, Austin Eguavoen has revealed that the team had to go the extra mile to tame the Pharaohs hit-man, Mohammed Salah.

Much was expected from the forward following his superlative displays for Liverpool this season, but he was marked out of the game by the Super Eagles.

Coach Eguavoen has now shed light on how his team tamed Salah in the game.

Speaking to press men after the win, Eguavoen said;

“Our main objevtive was to win the game, cut off Salah and keep the ball and we did all that.

We played direct and we also kept the ball.

We will continue to approach each game as a cup final.”

Nigeria won the game 1-0, with an amazing strike from Kelechi Iheanacho in the first half.

The Super Eagle’s next game in the 2021 AFCON finals is against Sudan on Saturday.
