Austin Eguavoen Steps Down As Super Eagles Coach Following AFCON Exit.

Augustine Eguavoen has announced that he will be quitting his role as the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s interim coach following the team’s exit from the ongoing AFCON 2021 tournament.

Eguavoen was appointed interim head coach of the team following the sacking of Gernot Rohr on the eve of the competition.

“I’m the technical director of the NFF. I will go back to my job and allow the authorities to decide (who the next Super Eagles coach will be),” Eguavoen told newsmen after the match.

However, it remain to be seen whether the NFF will stick with Eguavoen or cement the appointment of Portuguese Jose Peseiro.
