Austin Eguavoen, the interim head coach of the Nigerian national football team, has resigned as the team’s head coach after the team missed out on qualification for the 2022 Qatar World Cup tournament.
Multiple media reports claim that Eguavoen has sent an official resignation letter to the NFF and will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.
However, the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF is yet to release an official statement.
The NFF had handed a two-year contract to Eguavoen two days before the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Ghana.

The recent development comes after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the world cup after losing their spot out to the Black Stars of Ghana.
