Nigerian music producer, Michael Collins Ajereh popularly known as Don Jazzy is one of the few pioneers who have helped transform the Nigerian music industry into what we have today. With over 16 years in the music industry, Don Jazzy has stamped his name as Africa’s most influential music magnate.

Don Jazzy has not only impacted the Nigerian music industry with his unique music materials, but also used the Mavin records (fka Mo’Hits) music label to raise other music stars and push them to the limelight.

In this post we will share with you 15 Music Stars Don Jazzy Has Pushed To The Limelight:

D’BANJ.

Don Jazzy and D’banj was a duo that could never go wrong. Together with D’banj the duo won awards, gained endorsements, grew Mo’Hits to become the number one record label in Nigeria at the time. As a matter of fact Don Jazzy produced 80% of D’banj’s hit records until date. Making hits became a lot more difficult for the Kokomaster after the split.

TIWA SAVAGE.

Tiwa Savaage one of the best Nigerian female singers at the moment did not just rise out of the blues to become one of the most successful Nigerian female artistes in the industry, she was showcased to the world by Don Jazzy and the Mavin records music label. While at Mavins, she released two studio albums, Once Upon A Time and R.E.D, and an EP, Sugarcane. She also put out several solo hits like Eminado in which she featured Don Jazzy.

It’s worthy to note that Don Jazzy was the primary producer of her second studio album R.E.D.

REEKADO BANKS.

2015 ‘Next Rated’ Headies Award winner, Reekado Banks came to the limelight and had an amazing run of hits during his time in Mavin Records, under Don Jazzy’s tutelage.

4. KOREDE BELLO.

Koredo Bello was one of the reigning artistes in the Nigerian music industry few years back. Don Jazzy brought him into limelight with his smash hit single ‘God win’. The talented singer was able to produce unique songs under the Mavin records music label. Aside from Godwin, Korede Bello got other hit songs like Romantic and Do Like That. He was featured in Dorobucci, Looku Looku, Adaobi, and other Mavins hits.

5. CRAYON.

just after Artists like Tiwa Savage and Reekado Banks left Mavins Don Jazzy wasted no time in discovering the next hot talent. One of them was Crayon who was was announced as a Mavins artist under Blowtime Entertainment in May 2019.

Don Jazzy first introduced Crayon in the group song “All is in Order” and since then he has been making waves.

DI’JA.

Di’ja’s ‘Awww‘ track which she released after she got signed to Mavins remained a hit track for a long time . The singer, no doubt made a mark in the music industry due to Don Jazzy’s influence in her career.

AYRA STAR.

Signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavins record about a year ago Ayra Starr is now rated as one of the hottest new artists in Nigeria. A Debut EP released under the label topped major charts in Nigeria due to Don Jazzy’s influence.

DR. SID.

Sidney Esiri is one music star who also gained a lot from Don Jazzy’s influence. Dr. Sid joined the then Mo’ Hits records from Trybe Records in 2007 and was able to record some hits with his label mates. He released his debut album under Mo Hits and when the group split in 2012, he released his sophomore album under Mavins.

Recently Dr. Sid tweeted that the Don Jazzy has been the most influential person in his success story.

JOHNNY DRILLE.

Don Jazzy was able to push Johnny Drille into limelight despite his genre – folk and alternative rock which are not mainstream genres in Nigeria. However, Don Jazzy has helped the artist make hits with songs like Wait For Me, Romeo and Juliet, Halleluya, and Awa Love to name a few.

WANDE COAL.

‘Mushin to Mo’Hits’ superstar – Wande Coal has had a successful music career and story which can not be complete without mentioning the influence of Don Jazzy. Wande Coal came to the limelight and made several hits with the now defunct Mo Hitz records, before moving on to Mavins records and splitting up with Don Jazzy.

LADIPOE.

It won’t be wrong to say that Don Jazzy revived Ladipoe’s career and put him back on track. The talented rapper signed to Mavins record has become a hit maker and one of Nigeria’s best in the rap/hip-hop game due to Don Jazzy’s influence.

D’PRINCE.

Don Jazzy’s younger brother D’Prince also became prominent in the music industry after he signed with the now defunct Mo’Hits record. The rapper was able to make some hits both on solo records and as a group. D’Prince is currently a music executive with Mavins record and was a pioneer in the discovery of Rema and Ruger.

REMA.

Rema got into the Nigerian music scene in 2019. He was signed to Jonzing World which is a record label under Don Jazzy’s Mavins. Rema is said to have been discovered by Don Jazzy’s brother and music artist, DPrince. To announce his signing, Rema put out a self-titled EP which contained all hits, most particularly Dumebi and Iron Man which was acknowledged by Barack Obama.

MAGIXX.

Magixx whose real name is Adelabu Alexander Adewunmi is a Nigeria, Afro-fusion singer & song writer who is currently signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavins record label. The singer came to the public limelight when his signing was announced by Mavin record boss “Don Jazzy” on the 23rd of September 2021.

BAYANNI.

Young talented singer and songwriter, Bayanni is Mavins Records new signing. Bayanni is a product of the Mavin Academy. He was found by the A&R team of Mavin, who signed him and placed him through their artist development program so he could enhance his skills. The young singer has been pushed to the limelight with his latest EP ‘Bayanni”.
