FIFA boss Gianni Infantino reacts to Vinicius Jr. racial abuse saga.

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino has reacted to Vinicius Jr. racial abuse saga during Real Madrid’s match against Valencia on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Infantino showed his support to the Brazilan in a statement that was released on Monday, May 22nd, 2023. According to the Swiss man, FIFA frowns at any form of racism most especially in football and the body will not stand for this kind of incident.

He also said that the referee should have handled the situation according to the guidelines that have been set down by FIFA whenever a racial incident happens during a football match.

He stated as follows:

“Full solidarity to Vinicius. There is no place for racism in football or in society and FIFA stands by all players who have found themselves in such a situation. Events during the match between Valencia and Real Madrid show that this needs to be the case. That is why the three-step process exists in FIFA competitions and it is recommended at all levels of football.”
