Chelsea Launches Investigation into Enzo Fernandez’s Alleged Racist Video

Chelsea Football Club has initiated an internal disciplinary process following a controversial video posted on social media by Enzo Fernandez. The French Football Federation has accused the clip of containing racist content.

Fernandez, along with some of his Argentina teammates, appeared in the video chanting derogatory remarks about the France team, shortly after Albiceleste’s victory over Colombia in the 2024 Copa America final.

Wesley Fofana, Fernandez’s teammate at Chelsea, reposted the video with a caption highlighting concerns about racism in modern football. Fernandez later issued an apology on Instagram. In response, Chelsea released a statement emphasizing their zero tolerance for discriminatory behavior and expressing their commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

The club stated they will use the incident as an opportunity for education and have commenced an internal investigation into the matter.
