Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has been officially confirmed as a member of the Recording Academy, making him eligible to participate in the Grammy Awards voting process.
The Recording Academy, which organizes the annual Grammy Awards, announced Davido’s induction as part of its ongoing effort to expand global representation within its membership. As a voting member, Davido will now contribute to selecting nominees and winners for the world’s most prestigious music awards.
This milestone marks another major step in the international recognition of Afrobeats, a genre Davido has helped popularize worldwide. It also places him among a growing list of African artistes, including Burna Boy and Tems, who have made inroads within the Academy in recent years.
The announcement comes ahead of the 2025 Grammy nominations, which will be revealed on November 7th, 2025, setting the stage for next year’s award ceremony.
Davido, who recently concluded his Timeless world tour, celebrated the news on social media, describing it as an “honor to represent Afrobeats at the highest level.”
