FG Reaffirms Commitment to Girls’ Education on International Women’s Day

As the world marked International Women’s Day 2026, Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian girl has access to safe, inclusive, and quality education.

Speaking to commemorate the day, Alausa said the government remains focused on creating learning environments where girls can grow, learn, and reach their full potential without barriers. The statement aligns with the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” which calls for stronger efforts to protect the rights and opportunities of women and girls around the world.

According to the minister, education remains one of the most powerful tools for shaping the future of the country. By investing in girls’ education, the government hopes to empower a generation that can contribute meaningfully to national development.

The message also highlights a broader conversation in Nigeria about improving access to education, especially for girls who may face social, economic, or cultural barriers. Ensuring safe and inclusive classrooms, the government says, is key to helping young girls build confidence, develop skills, and pursue their dreams.

As International Women’s Day continues to inspire conversations around equality and opportunity, the commitment to girls’ education remains a central part of the vision for a more inclusive future.
