Army Warns Members of Public to Avoid Unruly Behaviours at Polls

The Nigeria Army has yesterday warned officers and members of the public against patronisisng polling units, fraternising with political parties and escorting politicians during the elections, saying offenders will be sanctioned.

This in two days as Nigerians decide, according to Guardian, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Six Division and Land Component Commander, Major General Jamil Sarham, reiterated this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State during a media briefing to herald the 2019 elections.

In the development, Sarham reportedly warned sponsored miscreants who are planning to use military camouflage like fatigue dress to disguise as troops of the Nigeria Army to perpetrate unwholesome practices at polling centres to have a rethink, as no soldier would be seen in voting areas.

Anyone seen in military uniform in polling units is an imposter and should be treated as such,” he said, adding that anyone with useful information about any security breaches should call 09027771482.
