JUST IN: Ghana Legalize Marijuana

The Ghanaian government has finally announced legalizing the use of weed (marijuana) for health purposes.

However, the bill approved by the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) the legalize marijuana or cannabis is only for industrial and health uses.

The country joins other African country in search for economic development towards the use of weed. Though the government will still regulate the use of marijuana and its production and distribution, weed can now be used for medicinal purposes in Ghana.

This could be a bad development if drug trafficking is not properly checked as many traffickers will now push towards trafficking marijuana in form of medical drugs. The new law will also permit Marijuana to be used as Hemp fibres. Hemp fibres are used to make clothes, biofuel, paper and other economically viable products.

The country’s parliament passed the bill on Friday giving the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) power to control the use of drugs to eliminate drug trafficking for public safety.
