INEC Says It Will Conduct Elections Despite COVID-19 Crisis.

INEC’s National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, announced in a press briefing that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved that it will conduct elections despite the covid-19 pandemic in the country.

He stated that policies and provisions have been put in place for the forthcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, as well as some bye-elections.

Festus Okoye added that the commission is committed to conducting all elections that are due within the extant legal framework.

He stated that INEC will not postpone the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States scheduled for September 19 and October 10, 2020 respectively.
