The brawl which led to the arrest of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire kicked off when his sister was stabbed in the arm, according to Greek media sources.
The 27-year-old appeared in court in Syros on Saturday following the incident on Thursday after it was alleged he and two others had an altercation with police officers on the island of Mykonos.
It is believed Maguire was taunted by rival football supporters, which culminated in his sister Daisy being stabbed in the arm with a “sharp object”, says the Mirror.
Things are then said to have escalated, with a mass brawl erupting, and when police arrived to break things up Maguire was reportedly “verbally abusive to an office and then hit him.”
It is said that after punching and kicking the officers he then attempted to bribe them into letting him go.
After spending two nights in a cell he and his two friends, aged 28 and 29, appeared in court but are now free to return to the UK ahead of a hearing on Tuesday which they are not required to attend.
