As the 2020/2021 English Premier League commences with the first match played already, we would like to take a look at five players who are most likely to win the golden boot awards this season.

Leciester City Striker, Jamie Vardy is the Premier League’s current Golden Boot holder having found the net 23 goals last season, and he may also be a contender for the award again this season.

However, let’s take a look at some players that might contend with Jamie Vardy in winning the golden boot award, for the 2020/2021 English Premier League season.

7. Sadio Mane

Senegalese Captain, Sadio Mane is one of the top contenders of the EPL golden boot this season. Sadio Mane’s importance to Liverpool became more evident than every last season. Though slightly down on the previous campaign, Mane’s 19 goals were instrumental as Liverpool charged to a first Premier League title in 30 years.

6. Raheem Sterling

While Aguero remains at Manchester City, it’s unlikely Raheem Sterling will win a Premier League Golden Boot. However he will be a top contender for the award as many expect him to play a more significant role up front for Guardiola’s men in 2020/21.

Chelsea’s newly signed German forward, Timo Werner seems to be a top contender for the EPL’s Golden Boot Award this season, after Robert Lewandowski became the only player to have outscored him in the German top flight last season. The Striker scored 28 goals last season, but he has failed to register a goal for Chelsea this season.

4. Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero is always there and thereabouts when it comes to the top of the goalscoring charts in England. However, fitness problems have hindered his quest to win the Golden Boot in the past seasons. He registered only 16 league goals last season.

3. Harry Kane

There is arguably no player in English football who puts higher expectations on himself than Harry Kane. Having bagged 29 league goals in 2016/17 and hit the 30-mark in 2017/18, injuries have prevented Kane from reaching 20 in each of the last two campaigns. He scored just 19 goals last season.

2. Mohamed Salah

Egyptian Star, Mohammed Salah sits number two on our list of favourite players to win the EPL golden boot for the 2020/2021 season. Salah shared the award with Aubameyang and Mane last season, but if he puts enough effort in scoring he might win it this season, having started the season with an hat-trick already.

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 

Arsenal and Gabonese forward, Aubameyang, is a top favourite to win the EPL Golden Boot this season. This comes after he won it in his first season at the Emirates and after coming second to Jamie Vardy last season. He scored a total of 22 league goals last season.
